NOTE: I’m not affiliated with BSB, their Vegas residency, or Starbucks. None of this is official merchandise, actual partnerships or being sold as such. I’m simply a fangirl that loves to pull together design (and strategy behind it all) that other fans would enjoy!
If you had a chance to see the Backstreet Boys during their Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, I have no doubt you have dreams of that residency coming back for an encore. With a capacity of about 7,000 seats, this smaller venue brought the boys within arms reach of most of us in the audience — something vastly different than the sold out arenas we have been used to for 25+ years.
As a 30-something fan of this band, my routines and likes these days are a bit different than when I screamed my head off 20 years ago for these same five guys:
Needless to say, when I stumbled downstairs from my Planet Hollywood suite, the Starbucks near the casino drew me in like a magnet. As I stood in line, I saw other exhausted fans with eyeliner also smeared on their eyelids, just like mine, and hoarse voices from screaming songs all night long at the show.
I started to wonder how many other fans would be wandering the hotel that day — feeling as if they’re floating on cloud nine from the night before. Wouldn’t it be awesome to find those fans and connect with them somehow? Even just a smile, a nod, a “they get it” feeling as you reminisce about the nostalgic comfort in this band we all love.
I thanked the barista for my coffee cup, then my business brain turned on (remember, I own a branding + website design studio!)
[Again, note, this is NOT real. Just a fun, strategic design that I would LOVE to see made real-life!]
My fangirl heart would’ve been so full AND I would’ve been able to see who else would be carrying these BSB Vegas on-brand cups across the casino!
You’ll notice that the design of these cups aren’t just pulled out of thin air. If you were lucky enough to attend the show, you know that the branding was a mix of neon colors with a contrasting black. The confetti that fell from the ceiling at the end of the show was hot pink and teal. These colors SCREAMED Vegas residency and we even included the simple BSB logo that was used throughout the residency.
So, the big question every fan wants to know: Will BSB be back in Vegas for this residency again? I’m hoping so! And, you better believe that I’ll be in line at Starbucks the following morning — on-brand cups or not. 😉
